Down the line rock to ukulele island songs and harmonica lap slide blues, surf instrumentalists Old Man Friday hail from the dawn patrol of Palm Beach on the Gold Coast. Along the way, their music has featured on documentaries, surf clips, were the winners of ABC Coast FM Exhumed, and played at events such as the Cool Rocks On, regulars at the Noosa Festival of Surfing, Christmas by the Sea and the Gold Coast Folk Festival. All gigs are nearly always outdoors, as close to the coast as possible 🙂 Old Man Friday continue to explore surf music new and old, but search the edges as well – the desert and old time spaghetti westerns, stripped back folk, and dabble in bringing the funk. The do it yourself journey has been incredibly fulfilling, exploring new ways to play, produce and create art and embrace the joy of learning. Most of all, the members of Old Man Friday love to be out in the community, getting along side people from all walks of life, following the example of Jesus who broke bread with a diverse range of people. But that Friday morning surf is never too far from their minds, see you in the line up.
